Okay, no exaggeration here, this is nuts.
Just a few weeks ago, New York City Mayor Eric Adams was trying to lift his city's "right to housing" policy, which requires the city to house, for free, any homeless adult resident. This was, of course, because New York had been flooded with illegal immigrants sent from the great state of Texas.
Well, let us fast forward to yesterday, when Adams pulled this little trick out of his bag:
Uhhh, hold on…
WHAT?
It is my vision to take the next step to this — go to the faith-based locales and then move to a private residence. There are residents who are suffering right now because of economic challenges. They have spare rooms...
We can put [the migrant crisis money] back in the pockets of everyday New Yorkers, everyday houses of worship, instead of putting it in the pockets of corporations.
Okay, I guess I did hear you right the first time: You're saying you want to house illegal immigrants in the homes of everyday New Yorkers. That's, uhh, something special, isn't it? Looks like that whole I'm a progressive so I support open borders thing didn't really work out for ya.
And so now you'll turn to broke New Yorkers to foot the bill for your incompetence.
Super cool, man.
Super cool.
I'm guessing instead of housing these illegal immigrants in people's homes, you're going to get a lot of people (I should say "a lot more people") moving out of your horrendous city.
And honestly, can you blame them?
Not even illegal immigrants from Honduras want to stay in New York City.
Place is gross.
Get out of big cities, folks.
You'll thank me later for this advice.
