What is going on in DC today? That place is about to boil over!
First McCarthy allegedly took a shot at one of his opponents and now we have a Republican senator challenge someone to a duel during a Senate hearing???
FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
Every day we're getting closer to returning to Andrew Jackson times.
You can see the larger context here, but this clip starts with the Republican from Oklahoma, Markwayne Mullin (who is a former MMA fighter), quoting International Brotherhood of Teamsters general president Sean O'Brien, who called Mullin a clown and said he'd fight him "anytime, anywhere."
Mullin: Sir, this is a time. This is a place. You want to run your mouth? We can be two consenting adults. We can finish it here.
O'Brien: Okay, that's fine. That's perfect.
Mullin: You want to do it now?
O'Brien: I'd love to do it right now.
Mullin: Then stand your butt up, then.
O'Brien: You stand your butt up!
[Mullin proceeds to stand his butt up]
The Senate was about to become the Octagon until Senator Kill-Joy Sanders stepped in to break it up.
Bernie: You're a United States Senator! Sit down!
Man! We coulda finally seen fisticuffs in the US Senate! This would have been EPIC! But Bernie Sanders had to step in to defend his union buddy from the butt-whooping he may have been about to receive from the undefeated MMA fighter Mullin.
This is the climax of a conflict that has been brewing for quite some time. From June:
I know, I know, the "People's House" is not the place for personal squabbles.
But sometimes I think we're at the point where duels might solve more than committees and the entertainment value would be off the charts.
