Not sure if anyone cares, but stuff like this should be a big deal, ya know:
Yup. Joe Biden could let American oil workers get back to their jobs pumping the oceans of reliable fuel under our own feet, but he was stumping around OPEC begging them to delay cutting oil production so the Dems wouldn't be hurt.
The above quote is directly from a release from Saudi government:
So Joe tried to convince the Saudis not to cut oil production by threatening to withdraw military aid, telling them they needed to hold off until after the midterm elections. A little "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours," or "Quid Pro Quo" as they say in Latin.
Didn't the Dems just impeach the last guy over that?
No, really. They impeached Trump for that. They used the phrase a bazillion times in Congress and newsrooms:
More from the NY Post:
The Biden administration admitted Thursday it had asked Saudi Arabia to delay the OPEC+ vote to cut oil production until the cartel's next meeting – after the midterm elections.
"We presented Saudi Arabia with analysis to show that there was no market basis to cut production targets, and that they could easily wait for the next OPEC meeting to see how things developed," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said in a statement. The Riyadh-led group of oil producers' next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 4, according to the OPEC website.
Kirby also alleged that other OPEC member nations "communicated to us privately that they also disagreed with the Saudi decision, but felt coerced to support Saudi's direction,"
The White House was responding to a Wednesday night statement from the Saudi foreign ministry hitting back at Washington's accusation that it had taken sides with Russia in Moscow's war against Ukraine.
Oof.
Saudi Arabia is a major ally of ours. We sell them fighter jets and have partnered closely with them over the last 20 years in our wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Yet they felt it important to rat out Resident Joe so they could save face.
