Boston pediatrician Scott Hadland enjoyed some viral attention this week after he posted a tweet arguing that "kids should wear masks in schools."
It's worth pointing out that Hadland is practicing poor mask hygiene in this photograph, sticking his finger onto the inside of his mask in order to pull it off of his face. And why did he even have to pull the mask down in the first place? What sense does any of this make? Oh, well.
Hadland subsequently made an appeal to his own authority, suggesting that people should follow his advice about putting cotton strips over kids' faces because he himself is an expert:
Thanks for the tip, doc! Meanwhile, as some eagle-eyed readers pointed out, Dr. Hadland the Medical Expert is also apparently a big fan of an educational tool known as the "Gender Elephant:"
So many questions arise: Why is the elephant pink? Why does it have human hands? Why is it wearing a suit? Why an elephant?
It doesn't matter. The Gender Elephant, in any case, is a product of the Canadian Centre for Gender+Sexual Diversity, and is meant to help people
learn and teach the concepts of gender identity, gender expression, sex, physical attraction, and romantic attraction.
It's good to know where a doctor stands on making kids wear masks. It's also good to know where he stands on a lot of other issues, as well.
