If this story didn't happen in Florida, I probably wouldn't believe it.

That sort of spells it out, but it's not the whole story.
It gets much, much weirder than that.
Apparently this guy, 42-year-old Timothy Schulz, was swimming in gator-infested waters on Monday morning when he was attacked by an alligator. However, before this happened the police were called to a racetrack to track him down. He said he was "shaking" and asked to call his son.
Two hours later, police told he'd been spotted in a gator-infested pond where Schulz had already growled -- yes, growled -- at a resident who tried to bring him a lifejacket. It was somewhere around this time when Schulz was bitten in the arm by the alligator.
Before police arrived, Schulzee had left the pond and was walking between houses in a nearby neighborhood, arm likely bleeding from the gator bite. He picked up a pair of garden shears in the process, and was also seen throwing a brick at a truck.
Police arrived to Schulz still carrying the garden shears and trying to break into a vehicle (which could have been that same truck but the reporting is spotty). Police exited their vehicle, and that's when Schulzee charged them with the shears.
Police played nice and used the taser, but Schulz made a lunge into the cruiser to try to grab a rifle.

This was the last thing Schulz ever did.
Schulz had several meth charges on his record and was in possession of a pipe, which tested positive for meth. He had been released from jail on May 20 on a prior meth charge.
Unfortunately for the deputies involved in this case, they'll be placed on administrative leave. This is department policy.
Kids, I want to take this moment to remind you:
Always say no to drugs!
I'll leave this here because this is one of the wildest stories we've seen and it's still hard for even this author to believe:
